Artist Series #1 Cisco

Recognizing the reserve of creative energy swelling beneath the surface of the company’s daily output, the principals of O+A conceived a program to let the firm’s painters, sculptors, photographers, architects, graphic designers, musicians, writers, photographers, video makers, textile weavers, furniture makers… this list could go on—make art and display it to friends and colleagues. The Artist Series was born in 2013 as a fresh way to celebrate projects—something more fun than a press release and more creative than a promotional postcard.

Participating Artists—Olivia Ward, Verda Alexander, Chris Lindes, Jasper Sanidad

“Don’t think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it’s good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they are deciding, make even more art.”

Andy Warhol

The initial idea was to pick a project—first up, Cisco—and invite anyone on staff who was interested to do an art piece inspired by it. All mediums were welcome and the first entrants included geometric sculpture by Verda, gouache painting by Olivia and watercolor by Chris. All three were reproduced on a poster that also included Jasper’s shots of Cisco and sent to O+A’s mailing list—a kind of gallery opening through the US Mail.
