The French coined the word “flâneur” for those who calmly stroll through the city, just for the sake of it. It was meant to be a derogatory term for people who have no place to be, but I think this mode of gentle exploration might be the best method to invite new ways of thinking about, moving through, and engaging with the world. Good design is inspired by the diversity and serendipity of everyday life, so I am proudly a flâneur.
