Abstract Ventures

Abstract, a San Francisco-based venture capital firm, engaged Studio O+A to create their new 3,700-square-foot, full-floor office. The client’s vision was to create a bold, fresh, and welcoming workplace that reflected their innovative and trailblazing spirit within the industry. Prioritizing sustainability, Studio O+A retained as much as possible of the existing built interior. Instead of replacing the steel storefront system, we enhanced it with wood covers. Existing plumbing systems were preserved, with updates limited to finishes and casework details. The design team maintained the original mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, incorporating acoustic improvements, and refreshed the decorative brick walls and ceilings with white paint rather than demolishing them. These thoughtful modifications transformed the space while minimizing environmental impact. The office offers a variety of workstyle options for employees, including workstations, counter-height tables, and lounge seating. To personalize the space, the client’s private art collection introduces vibrant pops of color, complementing the overall neutral palette. Through a shared dedication to innovation, collaboration, and creativity, Abstract Ventures and Studio O+A have crafted a workspace that embodies the spirit of entrepreneurship—a place where adventure and opportunity thrive.
