West Coast East Takes Shape

“Whereas Paris (certainly in the centre) is the success of a single overarching monomaniacal topographic vision, London is a chaotic patchwork of history, architecture, style, as disorganised as any dream, and like any dream possessing an underlying logic, but one that we can’t quite make sense of, though we know it’s there.”

West Coast East, O+A’s exhibit at the rapidly-approaching London Design Festival is taking shape at the firm’s San Francisco studio and in various creative corners of the city on the Thames.  O+A’s presence at the designjunction show at 12 Southampton Row in Holborn will be five days of shoptalk—with drinks, demonstrations, panel discussions and non-stop California/UK schmoozing.  Here are some highlights:

Meet O+A
Three of our principals Primo Orpilla, Denise Cherry and Perry Stephney will be on hand with a dozen O+A designers, project managers and brand specialists to meet and greet the design and property development communities of London, the UK, Europe and the Middle East.  If you would like to connect with our team, drop by the space and say hello.

“Creating Ecosystems at Work”
On Thursday, September 24th at 4:00 p.m. Primo will join Simon Jordan from Jump Studios and Moderator Guzman de Yarza Blache from IE University to talk about new directions in workplace design.

Portfolio Reviews
If you are a design student or a designer looking to broaden your perspective here is an opportunity to have your work reviewed by the designers of O+A.  Friday and Saturday, September 25th and 26th our review team will be on hand to look at portfolios and offer professional assessments.  RSVP for a review session at events@o-plus-a.com.

“Working Beautifully”
On Saturday, September 26th at 12:00 p.m. Primo will sit down with Uhuru Design and Moderator Aidan Walker of designjunction to discuss how innovative workplace environments are changing how people work and what they expect from an office and an employer. More panelists from London architecture are expected to join—watch this space for updates.

It’s going to be a week of celebrations—with a kick-off for the press on Wednesday, September 23rd, beer and wine on Thursday after the panel and after-parties all week long.  If you’re going to be in London September 23-27, hop on the tube to Holborn Station and join us at West Coast East.
